Who is responsible for your information

Astons Law Chambers (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. Our address is 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London W1W 7LT. For any question about how your information is handled, contact info@astonslaw.com.

What information we collect

This website has no contact forms and does not capture email addresses. We collect personal information only in these ways:

  • When you contact us. If you call, send a WhatsApp message, or book a callback, we receive the information you choose to give us — typically your name, phone number, and details of your legal matter.
  • When you book a callback. Callback bookings are handled through cal.com. The name, phone number, and preferred time you enter are processed by cal.com on our behalf.
  • When you browse this website. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It records information such as the pages you view, your device type, and an approximate location. This data is collected through cookies.

Details of a legal matter may include information about alleged criminal offences. We treat this information with particular care and process it only where the law allows us to provide legal services and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Why we hold your information

We use the information you give us to respond to your enquiry, to provide legal advice and representation if you instruct us, and to meet our professional and regulatory obligations as barristers. We use website analytics to maintain and improve the site. We do not use your information for marketing and we do not sell it.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure how visitors use the site. It does not run third-party advertising or marketing scripts. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so does not affect your ability to contact us.

Who we share your information with

We share personal information only where it is necessary to run this website and our practice:

  • cal.com — processes callback bookings on our behalf.
  • Google — provides the website analytics described above.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — carries any message you send us through that service, under WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
  • Our website host — operates the servers that deliver this site.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, by a court, or by our regulator.

How long we keep it

If you contact us but do not instruct us, we keep your enquiry only as long as needed to deal with it. If you instruct us, we keep your case papers in line with the Bar Standards Board record-keeping requirements and our professional obligations. Website analytics data is retained for a limited period and then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and, in some circumstances, to have it deleted or its use restricted. To make a request, contact info@astonslaw.com. We will respond within the time limit set by law.

How to complain

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last reviewed. Information is available in alternative formats, such as large print, on request — contact info@astonslaw.com.
